The X Platform is a high-capacity, ultra-low latency platform for high-speed video networking, enhanced IP security and advanced compression specifically designed for the remote production, contribution and distribution markets.

With near limitless capacity, it ensures universal applicability for any video application and supports the implementation of both current and future IP video standards including VSF-TR03, VSF-TR04 and SMPTE2110.

The X Platform is a modular and customizable chassis with fully firewalled bi-directional 10Gb/s IP streaming ports. It is deployed world-wide in cable, satellite, terrestrial and IPTV applications, and used for encoding/transcoding/decoding, modulation/demodulation, scrambling/descrambling, and multiplexing in a multitude of applications. With full support for L2TP and PTP, the X Platform is also an ideal video core in Remote PHY deployments.

Appear’s software-defined compression module supports HDR, 4K and 8K, and can be configured as an encoder, transcoder or decoder, supporting all contribution applications as well as combined broadcast and OTT transcoding.

The X Platform can receive compressed or uncompressed video on 12G SDI/HD SDI/UHD SDI and 10GbE/25GbE/40GbE IP inputs and offers the complete spectrum of codec support including AVC (H.264), HEVC (H.265), TICO, JPEG2000 (JPEG2K, J2K), TICO XS / JPEG XS, and SMPTE 2110, SMPTE 2022-6, etc. New this year is the support of NMOS, demonstrating Appear’s continued commitment on improving the X Platform to support current and future requirements.

Deployable in 1RU (X10) or 2RU (X20), the platform fulfils the highly demanding requirements of sport and e-sport applications. Satellite, fibre, SRT and Zixi contribution links powered by Appear X Platform are currently deployed in OB vans and across stadiums, enabling delivery of major sports and e-sports events world-wide, as well as VAR in top football leagues throughout Europe and Asia.
