Manuel Martínez, Business Development Manager at Tedial, reveals what products and technologies Tedial will be showing in its booth at the 2023 NAB Show, which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 15–19. Tedial will be showcasing its smartWork NoCode Media Integration Platform and other digital transformation technologies in Booth W3959 (West Hall) during NAB Show.
What has your company been working on since the last NAB Show?
At the NAB Show in 2022, Tedial launched smartWork, our NoCode Media Integration Platform. smartWork received a “Best of Show” award from TV Technology at NAB, and at IBC 2022 it also received a Best of Show from TVB Europe and the IABM BaM Award in the Manage category.
But most relevant for us was the great reception smartWork received in the M&E market, and the great feedback we received from the product presentations. This has given us the energy to work on improving the product.
This year, we have successfully completed the AWS Foundational Technical Review (FTR), and joined the Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program as a technology partner. AWS FTR has provided Tedial with a framework that clearly identifies best practices to ensure the platform is well-architectured from a technical standpoint, in terms of security, scalability, cost-efficiency, operational excellence, etc., and is also well documented and has a clearly defined business model and SLAs. The GCP Partner Advantage program enables Tedial to sell, manage and support GCP products and solutions, helping Tedial to deliver customer excellence while driving growth by providing access to resources, tools, and support from Google Cloud. smartWork presents services available as apps, which can be provided by AWS, GCP, or from any other vendor. The apps can be used to implement business processes in just a few steps.
At NAB Show 2023, Tedial will show the smartWork with improvements at the UI level (with new wizards and tooltips to improve the user experience), at the Integrations level (new system integrations developed), and at the platform level (new Business Intelligence Dashboards available, new Cloud platforms supported), among others. Of course, our smartWork roadmap continuously evoles, so new features have been added and new ones will be added in the future.
What products or product categories are you highlighting at the 2023 NAB Show?
At NAB Show 2023, Tedial will introduce smartPacks, a suite of Package Business Capabilities (PBCs). The enhancement is the M&E’s industry’s first PBC solution and was designed to bring broadcasters closer to the cloud and enable the composable enterprise, a modular approach that leverages existing digital capabilities to create new products and services. Composability increases agility in digital transformation, relieves pressure on the IT team and frees up time for innovation.
Together, smartWork + smartPacks provide a set of PBC modules capable of streamlining the processes of different business units, including, but not limited to: news, localization, content delivery, post-production, archive and even IMF.
The launch of smartPacks along with Tedial’s recent AWS partnership and GCP partnership, annual renewed ISO 9001 and 27001 certificates and its plans to offer additional cloud options reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to providing top-level quality solutions and support the latest and most advanced protocols and standards.
What recent technology developments do you think are the most exciting for the media and entertainment industry?
I think that AI is an unstoppable technology and its presence is growing constantly. Not only for services that we understand as ‘standard’, such as STT or OCR, but it is an increasing presence in business workflows, such as automatic generation of trailers and promos, automatic segmentation and cataloging, automatic translation, automatic subtitling, or the ability to take decisions based on the system usage or errors. This implies that systems integration with AI is becoming more frequent, and it is no longer a simple point-to-point integration but requires higher levels of integration perfectly coupled in the business workflows.
In this sense, another trend is leveraging integration capabilities that help businesses expand by becoming more cloud adaptable. In many cases we find ourselves with clients whose problem is that they have single ‘silos’ systems that were designed a few years ago and function well enough, but these systems do not allow them to grow their business according to their expectations. And changing systems is always an expensive task in terms of time and resources. For them an integration platform such as smartWork is perfect. It allows the customers to extend their capabilities past their legacy systems and allows their platform migrations to be carried out smoothly and safely. These are of vital importance if they want to grow while maintaining business continuity.
