Shotstack -- Co-Founder

Derk Zomer, co-founder of Shotstack, reveals what products and technologies Shotstack will be showing in its pod at the 2023 NAB Show, which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 15–19. Shotstack will be showcasing the Shotstack Video Editing API in Pod W1143N in the West Hall’s Intelligent Content Experiential Zone during NAB Show.

What has your company been working on since the last NAB Show?

This is our first time at NAB Show and we are excited to introduce Shotstack to the Media and Entertainment industry. Shotstack is revolutionizing the way video is built, giving organisations the power to create, edit and distribute thousands of unique data-driven videos in minutes. Providing them the ability to unlock new revenue streams and/or create efficiencies in their workflows. Over the last 12 months we’ve launched two new products, a template creation Studio and we will be launching a brand new product at NAB Show. And of course we’ve been playing around with generative AI and are excited to showcase what we’ve been working on.

What products or product categories are you highlighting at the 2023 NAB Show?

We’ll be showcasing the full suite of Shotstack products.

We’ve traditionally been known for our video editing API which allows companies to build video applications and workflows, removing the need for them to develop their own software or manage servers. This API provides a full range of video editing capabilities and creative features, enabling the rapid production of engaging and immersive content in minutes rather than months. This results in faster time-to-market for organisations and improved scalability.

Our latest API, Ingest, simplifies workflow creation by accepting source footage and applying transformations, optimizations, and enhancements before editing. By enabling developers to manage media assets in one location, Ingest significantly streamlines the process of creating video and media applications. By partnering with industry leaders like Dolby, OpenAI, and AWS, we offer direct access to cutting-edge transformations, optimizations, and enhancements. This integration saves time, ensures consistency, and reduces frustration for media and entertainment companies.

With the Shotstack Serve API, your videos can be made available instantly through your preferred hosting provider. We currently support AWS and Mux integrations, or you can opt for Shotstack hosting. We’re also collaborating with major cloud providers, Vimeo, and other distribution channels to make content distribution seamless.

We’ll be launching our Create API at NAB Show, so stay tuned for more news about that.

We want everyone to experience just what Shotstack can do at NAB Show, so we’ve created two video experiences for all attendees.

The first is our Daily Las Vegas News Video where we’ll be sending out a personalised video sent to attendees and exhibitors every morning of the NAB Show. It will feature local happenings, top eateries, and news tailored to them. You can sign up at shotstack.io/nabnews.

And we’ll be launching a Las Vegas Highlights video where all attendees and exhibitors can create their own personalised video of their time at NAB Show and in Vegas. This will launch on the first day of the show on the Shotstack Showcase page.

What recent technology developments do you think are the most exciting for the media and entertainment industry?

The recent advancements in technology that I find most exhilarating for the media and entertainment industry include Shotstack’s innovative solutions and generative AI.

Shotstack is poised to revolutionize how media and entertainment companies create, edit, and distribute videos. Although our technology is relatively young, the creativity and innovation demonstrated by our customers is remarkable. Companies are achieving significant workflow efficiencies, utilizing video for personalized lead generation and onboarding processes, and pioneering applications we never imagined. This presents an exciting era for video and the boundless opportunities it offers the media and entertainment industry.

Generative AI is another development that has captured widespread attention. Its potential to transform not only the media and entertainment sector but also our everyday lives is immense. At Shotstack, we have been developing our Labs environment to enable customers and the broader industry to explore how generative AI can be integrated into their video production workflows. We encourage any media and entertainment company interested in learning more about Shotstack and how our solutions can help revolutionize their business with video to reach out to get in touch.
