Magdalena Muhr, Product Manager at Mapcreator, reveals what products and technologies Mapcreator will be showing in its pod at the 2023 NAB Show, which takes place at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 15–19. Mapcreator will be showcasing Mapcreator map graphics software in Pod N2562O in the North Hall’s Create Innovation Zone during NAB Show.

What has your company been working on since the last NAB Show?

Mapcreator will be presenting their mapping products at the NAB for the first time. They’ve long already provided map services to newsroom and broadcast teams around the world. Now, at the 2023 NAB Show they’ll showcase how powerful their tool has become: impressive map animations, informative stills and interactive online map embeds can be created from one interface, by anyone on the newsroom’s team, no matter their skill level. Map animations can be rendered in the web-based tool within minutes, supporting graphic teams and producers for their timely storytelling with branded, up-to-date and impressive map graphics. The same mapping content can also be edited to be embedded online for interactive map views, allowing to experience maps in a multi-dimensional way.

What products or product categories are you highlighting at the 2023 NAB Show?

The web-based Mapcreator tool is a no-code mapping module enabling anyone to create maps. From the easy-to-master interface, maps can be created for a variety of channels: enticing map animations for broadcast, static files suitable for post-production, or map embeds for online and interactive usage. The maps’ look & feel is customizable to the brand’s requirements, allowing every team to stand out with their unique visual identity. Annotations like drawing lines & shapes, placing markers and text elements can be placed simply by drag & drop actions, or users rely on the system’s geocoding. Importing files such as CSVs, GeoJsons and KMLs is a breeze — the tool automatically places the data where it belongs, giving the user options to style and brand them. Locator maps, statistical maps, election maps; any use case can be mastered with Mapcreator. Besides the user-friendly interface, SDK-like map building approaches and APIs are also available.

What recent technology developments do you think are the most exciting for the media and entertainment industry?

With regards to maps, the use of virtual and augmented reality has become exciting for Mapcreator too. Maps can be experienced in multiple levels, 2-dimensional is becoming history, and we’re curious to find out how we can make steps forward in this other 3D world.

Also, systems need to become smarter and processes need to happen in a more automized way. We can help by enabling users to create maps more seamlessly, integrate it in their workflows, and by anticipating steps they would take.
