About Fergal Ringrose
Fergal Ringrose is an editor and journalist in business publishing, specialising in the television broadcast production sector. Following a BA in Communication Studies at Dublin City University and an MA in Communication Studies at California State University, Sacramento, he began his career as Editorial Assistant at International Broadcasting magazine in London in 1985, progressing to Assistant Editor and then Editor.
In 1989 Ringrose returned to Ireland to co-found and edit Playback, the first magazine for the professional audiovisual production industry. In addition to the monthly magazine, the team also ran The Playback Show in the RDS for three years and published Ireland On Screen, the first guide to independent film and television production companies North and South.
In 1993 Ringrose became launch Editor of Television Broadcast Europe magazine, taking it from fifth in a market of five to market leader during 20 years as Editor and then Editorial Director. During this time he also became Editor and then Editorial Director of The IBC Daily, a newspaper for the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam for five days every September with a team of 20 journalists.
In late 2013 Ringrose stepped down from Television Broadcast Europe and in 2014 became part time Executive Editor of Sports Video Group Europe, a news, networking and events association for the TV sports broadcast production community.
Ringrose was Executive Editor of IBC365 for its launch in 2017 until early 2019.
