- SMPTE Hollywood will host two cloud workflow discussions in the Connect Inspiration Theatre at NAB Show 2023.
- “Remote Collaborations — Color Grading in the Cloud” features panelists representing AWS, the Colorist Society (CSI), and FilmLight.
- “Production & Post in the Multi-Cloud Universe” features panelists from Microsoft, Google Cloud, and MTI Film.
Journalist Debra Kaufman will moderate both conversations.
Linda Rosner produced both sessions; Steven B. Cohen and Laura Thommen also co-produced the multi-cloud forum.
“Remote Collaborations — Color Grading in the Cloud”
The first, “Remote Collaborations — Color Grading in the Cloud” is scheduled for Sunday, April 16 at 1 p.m. in the West Hall’s Connect Inspiration Theatre (W3421A).
The panelists will be Marlon Campos (AWS Senior Specialist Solutions Architect), Lou Levinson (Colorist Society fellow), and Peter Postma (FilmLight Managing Director of the Americas).
They will discuss the technology that is enabling colorists to work remotely and to overcome the challenges of image quality, security, latency and other technical issues. They will also address the benefits of pure-cloud, hybrid and brick-and-mortar workflows.
“Production & Post in the Multi-Cloud Universe”
The second, “Production & Post in the Multi-Cloud Universe” will be held Monday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m., also in the Connect Inspiration Theatre.
The panelists will be Andy Beach (Microsoft CTO for Media & Entertainment), Buzz Hays (Google Cloud Global Lead Entertainment Industry Solutions for Content Creation), Katrina King (AWS Global Strategy Leader for Content Production), and Victor Vaile (MTI Film Director of Engineering).
They will discuss cloud workflows enabled by hyper-scalers, SaaS offerings and private clouds. Additionally, they will consider how processes have been changed by AI, global connectivity, cloud processing and content delivery networks, as well as describe how post providers can benefit from the cloud.
